MARC DAVIS HAS SOLID RUN FOR RANDY MOSS MOTORSPORTS IN NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES DEBUT

MADISON, ILL (September 8, 2008) – Marc Davis stepped into the No. 81 Chevrolet Silverado of Randy Moss Motorsports this past weekend making his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Gateway International Raceway.  The 18-year-old has been competing in the NASCAR Camping World East Series where he has scored three top-five and five top-10 finishes in competition during the 2008 season.

After turning in a solid qualifying run that put him in the 12th starting position, Davis had confidence going into the 160-lap event.  He kept the No. 81 Chevy in the top 15 running positions throughout the race and sat just outside the top-10 late in the event.

“The race was really good for us,” Davis said.  “Qualified 12th and we were in the top 15 pretty much all day.  Learned a whole lot.  Initially in the race our lap times were alright and really couldn’t hang with the other trucks in traffic.  The truck was coming in a little bit more and I was able to run some people down.  It was a really good learning day for us.”

With eight different caution periods, the youngster struggled with the restarts but was able to settle in and make his move during the green-flag runs.

“We were really good on long runs,” commented Davis.  “I actually kind of got schooled on the restarts a little bit.  Some of the veterans, they showed me what was up on the restart.  It definitely gives us something to go back and learn on and be a little more aggressive on the restarts.  It’s a little different than the East Series, how they go about the restarts as well.  But on the long runs we were really good.”

Davis took the checkered flag in the 16th position for what was a great learning experience for the young driver.  As far as having his first Craftsman Truck Series event behind him, Davis was pleased with his performance and felt confident about his run.

“It’s definitely a big accomplishment and a relief,” stated the 18-year-old.  “We came out here and never really been in the trucks before.  Never been to Gateway (International Raceway) before.  Gateway was a really tough race track.  I was really glad to come out here and take so easily to the race track and the trucks as well.  I really had a whole lot of fun and they were a whole lot different.”

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads next to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 13 for the running of the Camping World RV Rental 200 Driven by Winnebago Industries.  Live television coverage begins at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on SPEED.  The event will also be broadcast live on MRN and Sirius Satellite Radio with coverage beginning at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).
